Isaac Nail Obituary

Nail- Isaac Cameron, 19, Conemaugh Township, went to be with the Lord on January 11th, 2026 following a life long battle with Juvenile Battens Disease. Born on July 19th, 2006 in Johnstown, PA. Son of Ronald W. Nail And Candi S. Shaffer both of Johnstown. Preceded in death by brother Austin J. Nail; paternal grandparents Daniel and Bernice Phillips. Survived by loving sister Alyssa I. Nail; maternal grandparents Walter and Cheryl (Moyer) Shaffer; numerous Uncles, Aunts and cousins. Isaac was a 2024 graduate of Conemaugh Township High School. Isaac's personality could be described as loving, full of smiles, strong minded but stubborn at times.

With broken hearts and endless love, we announce the passing of Isaac, age 19, who left this world surrounded by the love of his family after a courageous journey with Batten disease.

Isaac was a deeply loved son whose life, though far too short, was rich with meaning, joy, and love. He faced Batten disease with remarkable strength and quiet bravery, touching the hearts of everyone who knew him. Through every challenge, Isaac taught those around him about perseverance, gentleness, and unconditional love.

Isaac found happiness in the things he loved most. He absolutely loved the movie Elf and knew every word by heart, finding comfort and joy each time he watched it. He was a huge wrestling fan and would proudly act out the wrestling move RKO, repeatedly announcing, “Ding, ding, ding—I won!”—a moment that never failed to bring laughter to those around him. Some of his best days were spent fishing and hunting with his dad, shooting guns, wrestling, and riding quads and side by sides.

Isaac named his cat after his favorite wrestler, Rey Mysterio, a detail that perfectly reflected his love for wrestling and his fun, expressive personality.

From a very young age, Isaac dreamed of becoming a soldier. He loved everything about the military. Though his life was brief and shaped by a brave battle with disease, his dream and spirit live on. Isaac could often be found running through the house in his camo gear and army boots, playing with his toy guns, fearless and full of imagination—always on a mission, always full of life.

Isaac had such a vivid imagination that even his mom’s Jeep became his army tank, carrying him into countless make-believe

Above all, Isaac was a momma’s boy. He never hesitated to say, “Mommy is my favorite,” a title worn with pride and love. The bond he shared with his mom was unbreakable—full of tenderness, trust, and devotion .

Isaac was a devoted brother. He was preceded in death by his beloved brother Austin, who also bravely battled Batten disease and passed away at the age of 19. Their bond continues beyond this life.

Isaac is survived by his sister Alyssa, whom he lovingly called his “buddy.” Their connection was filled with comfort, affection, and a love that will live on forever in her heart.

Isaac was deeply connected to those closest to him. Breann was Isaac’s bestest friend. Even after losing his sight, Isaac would turn toward her voice and search for her as if he could see her, showing the powerful connection they shared.

Ashley, Isaac’s aide, was so much more than a caregiver—she treated Isaac as her own, loving him fiercely and standing by him with compassion and dedication.

Though Batten disease took much from Isaac and his family, it never took his spirit, his humor, his dignity, or the immense impact he had on those around him. His life is a reminder that true worth is not measured in years, but in love—and Isaac gave that in his own special way.

Isaac will forever be loved, forever missed, and forever held close in our hearts.
