Michael Honkus Obituary

Honkus: Mike, 82 of Hooversville Beloved husband, Father, Brother, and Friend to so many passed away January 28, 2026, at Windber Hospice.  Born October 17, 1943, in Johnstown the son of Frank John Sr. and Helen M. (Czarlinsky) Honkus.  Preceded in death by parents, loving wife Mary Carol (Ketchock) Honkus who died January 25, 2006, and brother Frank John Honkus, Jr.  Survived by loving son Bradley Honkus and friend Meri Beth Wojtaszek.  Also survived by sister Cindy married to Jerry Ledney and sister-in-law Lucille Honkus.  He will also be missed by nephews Anthony R., Frank J. III and wife Barbara, and great nephew and niece Richie and Daphne.  He was the loving godfather of Ricki Garrety and husband John and also survived by his dear friends the Dale and Linda Weissner Daughters and Sons-in-law.  Mike was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church.  Mike was a member of the National Guard.  He was the proud owner of Honkus Contracting where he was an artisan stone worker, having built hundreds of custom homes throughout the area, loved by families to this day.  He was also a member of the Home Builders Association.  Mike was a avid outdoorsman feeding all the animals daily, hunting and fishing, and gardening, always sharing the fruits of his hard labor.  He was loved and will be missed by all his extended family and friends.  No viewing at his request.  A funeral mass will be celebrated 10 A.M. Monday with Father Karl Kolodziejski, O.F.M. Conv.
